The York Falcon softball team had a very competitive season. On March 28, 2022, they beat Smithfield 13-0 with Morgan Hunter (Jr.) going 3-4 with 2 homeruns for the Falcons. The Falcons lost 5-1 against Tabb on March 25, 2022. The Falcons scored 1 run in the top of the first inning, then Tabb scored 1 run by the end of the first inning, and by the 5th inning Tabb had scored 5 runs.
The Falcons won 6-2 over Lafayette on March 18, 2022, and then beat them again on May 16, 2022, 2-0.
On April 14, 2022, the team had its first victory over Jamestown with the final score 19-5. During the team’s double header against Bruton, the Falcons won game one 14-0 and game two 12-2.
The team had its senior night on May 23, 2022, at the York High softball field. The team competed against Tabb at 4:30 P.M. During senior night, the seniors on the team walked with their parents across the field and then played in their last home game as high school students. The seniors being honored on this s night include Megan Witt, Micaela Brown, Lacy Parrish, Aubrey Stephen, and Hayley Hepner as players and Miranda Byrum and Maddy Miller as managers. Parrish said that she was feeling “bittersweet” and that “it feels like it’s all coming to an end, but I’m excited to hopefully get the win with my girls.” Taylor Floyd (So.) said, “It’s going to be a pretty cool senior night because I’m cool with all the seniors.”
