On Monday May 16th, the men's varsity lacrosse team gathered to prepare for its first playoff game against Cox.
The game began at 7:30. York scored once. Then Carter Chapin (So.) won the face off, and York rushed in to score another goal. Cox answered back, scoring another goal.
In the final quarter, with 12 minutes remaining, Cox was up by two goals.
Lots of flags and penalties disrupted York’s momentum. York scored again, as did Cox. Minutes remained and Cox led the game 10-9. York had one last chance to tie the game. A turnover on a penalty allowed Cox to rush down the field with the ball. The team began to run the clock to prevent York from scoring, and as the clock ticked to zero, the game ended with Cox winning 10-9.
After the game, Will McLaughlin (Sr.) stated, “It was a hard-fought loss, but our team showed a lot of heart not giving up when we were down big.”
York men’s lacrosse ended the season with a record of 4-4.
