York High Students Give Reviews on AP Lit Exam

Worried about the AP Exam? Here’s what York High Students say was the hardest part about it.

The AP Literature exam took place on May 3rd this year. The exam consists of a multiple-choice section and a writing section that includes 3 essays. The students prepare all year to achieve a high score on the exam.

Baz Forrest (12) states, “I think the poetry was the hardest. You never know what crazy poem you’re going to get, and then having to find out the meaning while also giving evidence that you understand is hard.” Baz read about 3 books in preparation for the exam and ate a good breakfast.

Emma Schlosser (12) says, “definitely the poetry, but even the multiple choice was difficult. I made sure to use all the time given, even just to check back on my answers.” Emma also read 3 books and got 8 hours of sleep before the exam morning.

Betsy Walsh (12) claims, “I don’t even remember what was on the exam, honestly, but probably one of the essays was pretty hard. Definitely recheck the books you read because that helped a lot.” Betsy read 4 books and took lots of notes during the year.

Lucas Hicks (12) states “I thought the hardest part was the writing part because I started getting tired, but I knew had to keep pushing and persevere.” Lucas read 2 books and greeted all his teachers to have a positive attitude for the exam.

Although they have yet to know the grade they received, they suggest preparing for the writing portion and thoroughly knowing one book to use on the literary essay.
