York Band Takes Spotlight

On Friday, March 19th, the York Band took the night to display the past month’s hours of musical work, lead by Richard Purvis. They performed pieces from a wide variety of literary works: “Candide” by Leonard Bernstein, “Undertow” by John Mackey, and “The Eighties” by John Higgins.

Before Purvis’ display of the concert band, a number of seniors performed their final recitals in celebration of their departure. Madison Womack took her horn ensemble to perform “Full Heart Fancy” by Lucky Chops in a fast-paced and jazzy arrangement. Brodie Nash and Hannah Rimel took the stage to perform “Dog Days Are Over” by Florence + the Machine with lighting and full percussion ensemble included.

After the performances, audience members, crew, and musicians all took to the cafeteria to eat at the Band Aid provided food buffet in celebration of the finished year.
