The lady falcons opened the season with a 6-1 win over Tabb, with senior Mackenzie Hahn earning two hits with two RBI’s (Run Batted In), and ten strike outs from sophomore Sarah Witt. Head coach Amy Hunter said, “I was happy with how the girls played, especially for the first game of the season. Tabb always has a good team, and we came out hitting hard and playing solid defense.”
Falcons followed with a hard lost going 4-8 against New Kent. Falcons leading with a 4-0 lead up until the bottom of the sixth inning. The defense fought hard and ended with zero errors. Junior Olivia Brock said, “We played a great game. We were able hold them for the majority of the game, with an amazing defense, but in the last innings they were able to make the adjustments and find the gaps.”
The ladies practice every Monday through Friday for 3 months, with the occasional Friday off. The first week of May the ladies have four games and started the week with a 11-10 win over Warhill with sophomore Brianna Petrolia going 3-5 with 3 RBI’s. Followed with a 7-1 win over Smithfield on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, with junior Brayanna Holland going 2-5 with 4 RBI’s. The following week the falcons are marked for 5 games, with the post season being 2 weeks away.
