Prom was held on May 13th from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Ford's Colony clubhouse in Williamsburg, Virginia.
This year's prom theme was G.L.A.M, or Golden Light and Memories. The theme was designed to create a nostalgic night for all who attended. Senior Class Vice President Savanah Payne (Sr.) said, “Our board worked very hard from the DJ to the golden decorations to ensure everyone is shown somewhere at prom and that everyone enjoys their time.” Tablescapes included gold picture frames and flowers.
Senior class members requested students send pictures to the email yhsprompictures23@gmail.com. They received pictures from students and printed many of them for display; still others were featured on the digital slideshow at the venue.
The Ford's Colony Clubhouse hosted the prom for the second year in a row. Senior officers selected it because of the spacious dance floor, decorations, and stunning views. Senior class Secretary Abby Kern (Sr.) said, “I went and saw the venue beforehand, and it was very spacious and already had some golden decorations attached, so I can’t wait to see what it’ll look like after all our decorations are put up.” Students took photos at the All-Star Photobooth and took advantage of the selfie station that encouraged students to take pictures with their own devices.
Students voted for king and queen of prom beforehand. Some students campaigned to have their name on the ballot. Senior Gratia Carr said, “I just like campaigning.”
The seniors selected Tai Bui as Prom King and Zoe Choice as Prom Queen.
