This spring break, students went on an unforgettable trip to Greece that changed their lives forever. These students were able to experience everyday life along with visit very well-known places in this area. From the ancient ruins of Athens to the beaches in Santorini, Greece offered the students many opportunities to explore and learn. Sophomore Amy Hautz said “Once we got to Greece we traveled to our first destination which was Athens. In Athens we went to many little shops and bakeries. The food was amazing, I was able to try new entrees and desserts I’d never had before. We went and explored many museums and learned the history behind the creation of the area. We met very nice and neat people and learned about their experiences in life for example we met a past Greek Olympian. We were taken on a one day cruise and visited many mini islands. My favorite place was Santorini because of its beautiful views and architecture. Overall my favorite day was the one day cruise because I loved the island Hydra.” Greece is home to some of the most iconic landmarks and breathtaking architecture. Students were able to explore the Acropolis Museum which had tons of beautiful structures and statues, along with a great view of Acropolis and tons of pieces of history. Many learned tons about how the creation of Greece occurred and how architecture like the Temple of Poseidon was designed. The students were accompanied by another teacher from Poquoson high school named Paula Freeman. Not only did the students get this experience but the chaperones did as well. They tried all the cuisines such as Gyros and Tzatziki and enjoyed it. Sophomore Alivia Horak said “The trip to Greece was chaotic because our flights on the way there were cancelled but once we arrived it was tons of fun. The views and architecture were breathtaking. I really enjoyed the one day cruise to go see the islands. The trip took a turn for the worst when I fell out of a bus, that didn’t stop me though. I was able to make many lifelong friends from Poquoson and I will continue to cherish the bonds we created forever.” The trip to Greece impacted the students and chaperones lives leaving them with tons of new learned experiences and bonds they can take with them for the rest of their lives.
