Girls Lacrosse Make Semifinals

The championship game for the York High Girls Lacrosse Club was the morning of May 13, 2023, and the girls ended their season ranked second after losing to reigning club champions, Warhill. The team played in the quarterfinals and then the semifinals earlier that week in the single elimination tournament.

Elizabeth Poitras (Jr.) said, “Even though we lost, we lost as a team, and it will only make us want it more for next year.”

Warhill has remained York’s biggest competitor, as York was the only team to beat Warhill during its regular season this year and last year. They were also the only team that York played twice. The team’s last regular season game was against Grafton, and they won with a score of 12-3, placing themselves in the higher seed of the tournament bracket.

Brianna Anderson (Sr.) said, “This year’s championship game was not the outcome we were hoping for, but the fact that we made it that far is something for the books. We worked hard as a team to get there and gave it our all at the game.”

This season was very similar to the team’s season last year, in which they made it to the championship game and played against Warhill. After losing the game 6-19, the York High Girls Lacrosse club’s season concluded for the year. The team said goodbye to senior teammates and hosted a banquet to celebrate the team’s and seniors’ accomplishments throughout the season.
