Pop's Drive-In Closes

York County residents say goodbye to a landmark after decades of serving the community. On March 22nd, 2023 Pop’s Drive-In closed its doors for good after 45 years. Customers lined up out the door before opening on the last day to get their last meal. Cole Faust (Fr.) was first in line on the closing day arriving at 4:30 am. He said, “We got there at 4:30 in the morning to get one last meal and cherished the memories we made there. We would always go to Pop’s before school.” It was a longstanding tradition for seniors to get breakfast before school. Jackson Stratton (Sr.) remembered all the Fridays he went to pops before school. He said, “When I was younger would go to Pop’s every Friday and I kept that going through high school when my friends and I would go.” Though Pop’s was known for its food, it was more than that. Pop’s was a community institution. People would gather at the “community table” all day and talk about everything under the sun. Adam Scheiderer (Sr.) said, “It is just sad to see it go. Pop’s was a staple around here that cannot be replaced. I always looked forward to getting that grease spoon in the mornings.” Customers are holding onto the memories they have made through the years. Q Daddys BBQ bought what was Pop’s and will open a barbeque joint in York County. Big shoes to fill.
